December 8th, 2023: Students enrolled in the Islamic Banking and Finance course at IBA, guided by Dr. Irum Saba, Associate Professor and Program Director of MS-IBF in the Finance Department at the School of Business Studies (SBS), demonstrated their proficiency in developing innovative Islamic finance products. The event, sponsored by the IBA Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF), provided a platform for students to showcase their groundbreaking ideas.
The distinguished chief guest of the session, Mufti Dr. Irshad Ahamad Aijaz, Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Committee of the State Bank of Pakistan & Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, emphasized the importance of learning Islamic Finance. He addressed critical questions from the students, sharing insights and perspectives on the relevance and impact of Islamic Finance in the contemporary financial landscape.
A panel of esteemed judges from the industry, including Muhammad Raza, Group Head of Customer Support at Meezan Bank; Mr. Wajahat Khawaja, Executive Director at Salaam Takaful; and Mr. Zia Khalid, Senior Manager at IBA CEIF, Karachi, commended the students for their remarkable innovation. The event culminated with the recognition of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, underscoring the significance of their contributions to Islamic finance.
